Default What Do these Do?

Well, I've gotten these 3 items in the past week, and when I identified them, it unlocked some sorts of runes. I also noticed it was worth quite a bit of gold to the shops.

So can anyone tell me what these are, and what is the best thing i can do with them?

Thanks,

The Ice Mage

If you slavage those items with a expert salvage kit, you will indeed recieve runes.

You can place them on your armour to increase your attribute points in the attribute listed.

e.g your minor domination rune will increase domination magic by +1.

You can only use runes for your primary proffesion.

You can only have one rune on each piece of armour.

The bonuses don't stack, so for example if you had a Major death magic and a minor you wouldn't get both bonuses

Be aware that although bonuses don't stack, penalties do (-50 health)

Runes come in 3 types:

Minor (+1 in attribute)
Major (+2 in attribute, -50 Health)
Superior (+3 in attribute, -75 Health)

If your thinking of selling them to a merchant, see how much you can get at the rune trader as well. For example your Major Vigor rune (once you get the rune off the ettin's pauldron using an expert slavage kit) is worth about 4,000g to the trader.

Hope this helps.

Well those are runes. If you use an expert salvage kit on those armors you will extract the listed rune, usually, they are all major runes. Worth keeping if you need a bosst in one of those stats and already have one superior on you. If you aren't going to need them though keep them in the armor and sell it to the merchant. the runes themselves, except major vigor, usually fetch like 25 -100 gold at the rune trader whereas the armor can get you at least 125.

Well, when you get armor drops from monsters they many times have runes on them that you can salvage out by either using an expert salvaging kit or a superior salvaging kit. These runes can then be sold or applied to characters of their respecting type. That Major Vigor pauldron will give you a Rune of Major Vigor that any type of profession can add to a piece of armor to give them +41 HP. The Major Death rune is for a necro, the Minor Domination for a mesmer. The Major Death and the Minor Domination aren't really worth much, you should prolly just sell them to the merchant/rune trader or use them on one of your chars. The Major Vigor has gone down in price, but if you don't want to use it on one of your character's armor, you can save it until Factions comes out. Once Factions comes out I expect rune prices to go back up a little, so it'd be better to sell it then.

It used to be worth 4000g, but the price has decreased recently. It will definitely go back up to at least 3500-4000g soon enough though, so save it to sell until then.

Last time I checked (a few days ago) rune trader was only paying 1K for a major vigor (down from 3.5K a couple months ago).

I would sell the mesmer and death runes (as the are pictured..unsalvaged)and expert salvage the major vigor. The major vigor sells to the rune trader for decent money..or you could double click it and apply it to a piece of your armor for an extra 41 health (I think its +41...not 100% though).
